The Anemone

One of my favorite varieties – not just for spring anymore!!  Anemones have cup-shaped, poppy-like blooms that can open about 2 to 3 inches in diameter.  There are single-flowered forms as well as semi double and double forms.  These flowers have a whorl, or collar of lacy foliage just under the blooms, which are made up of five or more petals.  Stems are leafless and somewhat fragile and usually range from 12 to 18 inches in length.  Colors include white, blue and a range of reds and violets, including scarlet, rose, pink, burgundy, mauve, lavender, orchid, purple and blue-violet.  The centers of these flowers are generally black;however, some white varieties have a natural or neutral center.  Depending on variety and grower, these flowers are available nearly year round – approximately September though June, give or take – from a combination of domestic and international producers.  So the terribly hot months are out but what a great addition to your wedding or special events the rest of the year.  And another great variety for the holidays!!

Peony Season at last!

Late Mid- season double, soft cameo-pink, with red freckles on the top of the petals, double row of pink guard petals, big full bloom, Lovely fragrant, normal grower with big leaves.  Approximate six week season but mainly depends on the temperature and if the season has been overly moist.  Top ten requested wedding flora’s year round.  Peonies are available outside of season but tend to be pricey.  Typical season begins around Mothers Day.
